Viv Donald Wapiti Bull Original - Online Auction
100 Years
of celebrating Legal Wapiti Hunting in Aotearoa
As an artist, hunter, and conservationist, I am honoured to create a commission commemorating 100 years of legal wapiti hunting in Fiordland, for the Fiordland Wapiti Foundation. This significant milestone pays tribute to the iconic Viv Bull, symbolising the foundation's commitment to responsible hunting, conservation and preservation. Being a female in this space adds to the appreciation I feel, as it allows me to contribute to the rich history and empower others in both the hunting and artistic communities.
Fiordland is a place where conservation, inspiration, and connection thrive. It is within this remarkable context that my artwork takes form, capturing the spirit of the Viv Bull and the rugged beauty of the Fiordland wilderness. I embrace my role as a female hunter and artist, breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes, while honoring the foundation's enduring legacy. The commissioned artwork will be auctioned at the Fiordland Event Centre, with all proceeds benefiting the foundation's ongoing conservation efforts. This collaboration between art and conservation reinforces our interconnected endeavors and invites the wider community to contribute to the preservation of Fiordland's natural heritage.
